Morbid Pleasures

Was definitely chuffed after the knockout blow that Pakistan suffered at the hands of the Leprechauns. Sometimes I wonder if the post match Urdu directive from above had anything to do with morale in general. You know, stuff like Inzy losing his edge and deadpan wit and all. But today he did speak in English, and the quote junkies had fun. You know, "The boays is plays bad. We all is coming here hoping we win. But we plays very badly. Ireland boays is plays good..." Pure genius.

The bad news is that we will not be able to watch an India-Pak game. I still wonder why I am so happy despite a creaming at the hands of the Bangladeshis. It was well-deserved though. I didn't stay on to listen to Dravid's articulate comments but I am pretty sure of phrases such as "taking some positives" and "giving credit to them" thrown around in good measure and seasoned with tons of "Fantastics!". Why the "fantastics"? He tends to use them a lot irrespective of the situation, doesn't he?

I was planning fairly regular rants about the World Cup. Now looks as long a shot as India have of qualifying for the next round.

  1. India is also trying her best to get out in round one. Indian team lost to teenagers filled Bangladesh team. I sincerely hope that these were just the jitters. I don't think India can take the stock market and cricket team going down at the same time.

They better start preparing for that (stock market and WC knockout), because they need to thump Bermuda more than the way Sri Lanka thumped them and beat SL by a good margin. (Yeah, also hope SL thump Bangladesh)

  3. Oh thank goodness, at least someone who has the exact two same opinions as me about this - a, no India-Pakistan Game this World Cup :(, and b, I actually can't see why Bangladesh shouldn't have won that game - I loved their fielding.
Also, I actually like the Pakistan team - call me crazy - but I have this weird idea of how the only team that should beat them be India, otherwise, I wish them well; hence I was bummed quite a bit.

For some reason, Wordpress had marked your comment as spam. Had to retrieve it from the spam queue. Ah well! Euphoria about the Pak loss might have been premature now that India is also knocked out!
